Financial Help (Spring/Summer)

There are three ways Vancouver Minor Baseball helps families in financial hardship to play baseball, as we do want all children to play ball.

  • Work in Concession:  The parent/ Guardian can work off their fee by working in concession during the spring, and possibly summer baseball (by contacting our President, Mary McCann at for approval).   2018 Concession Flyer.docx
  • Payment Plan:  The parent can create a VMBA approved payment plan with our Registrar, treasurer or  president (by using post-dated cheques). Must be approved by the president.
  • Funding Assistance:  Please advise the or President prior to submitting applications.  Approved funding is usually sent to VMBA directly.  Some options are:

Athletics for Kids ("A4K")
Click: A4K to go to their website.  A4K will require confirmation from VMBA of registration.
See March 16th BC Minor Baseball announcement about A4K here.

The parent can contact JUMPSTART.  Click for more information about this local program.

KidSport Vancouver- VMBA is back with Baseball BC, funding should be granted.

New for 2019:  KidSport has started online applications. to go to KidSport Vancouver website.

Lucy L. Woodsworth Bursary

Info at:  Note:  This Bursary funding is one-time basis per child (Vancouver school students).  May apply to new players only.

Fund should be mailed to

2390 East 46TH AVE
Nanaimo Park Fieldhouse)
     Mary McCann, President, Email:

Do not wait funding takes awhile to process, VMBA will need to see an email or some acknowledgement from the funder that funding has been arranged.

Please note that most funders assist with base player registration fees only, not rep 13U+ AA & AAA added fees (exception: 18U Midget AA fees are eligible).  See our Spring Prices page for AA, AAA added fee descriptions.

If you are suffering hardship and do not meet the financial criteria for both A4K and JumpStart, please inquire by email to our President Mary McCann at  There may be another option available for certain circumstances on a case-by-case basis.  This may also apply to situations where the funders' maximum grants do not significantly assist with player base registration fees.

Please inform VMBA  that you are applying for funding and where.  President Mary McCann

BC Baseball Partnership Positions Opportunity for BC Youth to Play Baseball

BC Baseball, the largest youth baseball association in British Columbia, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Athletics For Kids.

This new partnership ensures that all youth that want to play baseball can source the support if needed to join the over 17,000 registered players across British Columbia to date.

Athletics For Kids (A4K) is a BC based privately funded charity that works to ensure all BC children, regardless of socioeconomic status, can participate in organized sport by providing families with financial assistance.

A4K understands the social importance and community impact of amateur sports on development of children aged 5 through adolescents aged 18. Mike Sarai, President of BC Baseball points out, "This new partnership speaks to B.C. Baseball's perseverance on serving the needs of our community members".

Specific details on the program can be found by referring to the A4K website and by contacting your baseball association president. BC Baseball will work with the association to ensure all BC Youth have an opportunity to play baseball.
